Goodyear Blimp Makes Stop in Fargo

The world's largest lighter-than-air craft made a scheduled stop at Hector International Airport on Monday. The airship arrived from a week long stay in Minneapolis on its way to Winnipeg to cover the Pan American Games.

Goodyear Blimp PictureThe "Spirit of Akron" is the largest of seven airships in the Goodyear Blimp fleet. The airship is 205.5 feet long and 60.2 feet high. The airship has a maximum speed of 65 mph and a range of up to 12 hours. The helium filled craft has a volume of 247,800 cubic feet and it can seat nine passengers plus a pilot. The airship has a ground crew of 22 people and three vehicles that travel with it at all times.

The airship is scheduled to stop in Fargo on its return to the United States on August 12
