Record Month and Record Year

Hector International Airport’s airline passenger traffic in December showed a large increase when compared to the same month in 2018.  In December 2019, the passenger enplanements were 46,021.  This is an increase of 26.4% when compared to the December 2018 passenger enplanements of 36,422.

This was the busiest month ever at Hector International Airport surpassing the previous record month of 44,222 enplanements in March 2014.

Total passenger count for the month was 89,409, which is up 24.4% over the same period last year.

There were 658 air carrier departures with an average of 82 seats per flight in December and an average of 2,884 total daily passengers.

American Airlines had an all-time monthly record in December 2019 for 8,838 enplaned passengers.

Year-End 2019 Summary – Record Year

Airline passenger traffic in 2019 at Hector International Airport showed an increase as compared to 2018.  In 2019, the total passenger enplanements were 471,333. This is an increase of 11.6% when compared to the 2018 passenger enplanements of 422,190.

Total passenger count for the year was 930,409, which is up 11.4% over 2018 which had 843,582 total passengers.

Hector Airport had 7,390 air carrier landings in 2019.

The passenger traffic numbers do not include 7,560 charter passengers that also enplaned from the various charter operators in 2019.

Air Cargo 2019 Summary – Record Year

In 2019, 6,203 air cargo aircraft landed with a total landed weight of 391,019,295 pounds as compared to 4,607 air cargo aircraft landed with a 2018 total landed weight of 275,305,359 pounds.  This is a 42% increase over the previous record year. 

2019 was the first full-year that both UPS and FedEx operated at Hector Airport.


Air Traffic 2019 Summary

Air traffic operations showed an increase in 2019 over the previous year. In 2019, there were 82,501 total operations compared to 80,206 in 2018. This is an increase of 2.9%.

Total annual air traffic operations equate to over 226 landings and departures every day.
